We’ve been lucky enough to have distributed Z-Man now for a number of years, the brand continues to grow from strength to strength and is now a house hold name amongst the lure fishing community here in the UK.
We are forever being asked about our favourite lures over and above the Ned Rig range so we thought we would put pen to paper and tell you about our top three, all have been used for over 4 years and proven fish catchers.
First up the 3.75 StreakZ, this is what the Yanks would call a fluke we would tend to call it a split tail. It comes in numerous colours, our favourite is Baby Bass. The lure itself is 3.75 inches long with a slim profile and split tail. Fish it with sink and draw style or with small twitches, due to the split tail and its profile it acts like a fish in its last throws jerking from side to side and will immediately turn any near by predator on. You can use a Finesse Power Shroomz jighead but our favourite would be a TT Lures Finesse HeadlockZ in either a 1/0 or 2/0.

Second on our list is the Slim SwimZ, this comes in both a 2.5 and 3 inch versions our preference is the 2.5 inch as Perch of any size can engulf it. Favourite colour is Pearl.

The Slim SwimZ is a paddle tail which has a very quick action, the lure is super soft so folds up easily. As with all Z-Man soft plastics the Slim SwimZ is buoyant so can at rest sit on the bottom with it’s tail up just as a fish would if feeding in the silt. Again you can use a standard Shroomz as a jighead or a TT Lures Finesse Jighead in size 2,1 or 1/0 which ever you prefer.
Lastly but by no means least, the 2 inch GrubZ. This was the very first Z-Man lure we used for Perch some 5 years ago. No matter how you fish it the tail keeps fluttering, leave it stationary and it will sit bolt upright, our favourite jighead is a a 1/20 ShroomZ. The light jighead gets the most out of the GrubZ and lets you work the water columns.

There you have it our top three Z-Man Lures when we are not fishing the Ned Rig. Hope you enjoy exploring the full range of Z-Man lures, until next time…tight lines.
