It was great to see new anglers giving competition fishing ago and please to report nobody blanked. Weather on the day was warm and for a couple of hours we even had bright sun shine!
It soon came apparent that drop shooting for small Perch was going to be the method of the day with plenty of fish being caught in the margins. That said some nice sized fish were caught by the competitors, Dave Greenland owner of Predator Tackle UK and one of our sponsors caught the largest pike at 87cm and Perch of 36cm and 37cm were also recorded by Herakles UK and Cotswold respectively.
Come 3.30 returns were totted up and handed in. Some great lengths were recorded with Worcester Wranglers (806cm) just holding off the up and coming young guns of Matt Barnsley and Danny Hill from Perch Gang (802cm) for second place. That said there was no doubt about the winning pair who blew away the field with 1591cm! Team EcoFanatics of Steve Collett and Nick Marlow took the spoils and the 10 points for the first league, great angling guys and well done.
