View Cart Thirty two anglers met up on the 18 December at the Rock Of Gibraltar pub to contest the 4th round of the LL Series.
Entries were down on other events but this was understandable with the date being so close to Christmas. That being said we did have two new teams enter, Double D from ‘up north’ and TRD BurgerlZ.
Once the briefing was completed the teams shot off up and down the 5 miles stretch of water we had secured for this round. Team Predator Tackle ‘A’ shot into an early lead with over a meter and a half within the first hour when many teams around them in the marina really struggled.
As the day progressed news start to drift through that the Worcester Wrangler, Steve Wilson and his sub for the day, Derek Holmes, were catching consistently and the word was that they had over 3 meters. When we caught up with League leader Perch Gang their faces said it all, things weren’t going their way. With Danny having only caught one fish, Matt was fighting hard to keep them in contention with 10 Perch and as we left them they caught a bonus Pike of 60cm which really helped them at the end of the day.
A lot of people struggled with the clear water but Team No Name made the most of a boat going through the top section, this clouded up the water some what switching the Zander and Perch on. It soon came apparent that they were building a big length and they were not going to let the Worcester Wranglers run away with it.
As the match drew to a close it was pleasing to see all 4 predatory speices had been caught, Pike, Perch, Zander and Chub and that all barr two teams had caught.
Once the cards had been toted up and returned everybody retired to the pub who kindly let us use their conservatory for the presentation.
Although it was close Worcester Wranglers pipped Team No Name to the spoils with a length of 577cm to 512cm. Some how Perch Gang managed to catch enough fish to give them 4th place ahead of team Wet Bream. Those points have help consolidate their position in the league, but with two matches still left any thing could happen.
